Josefine Östh (RN/MSc) is the study coordinator and assistant for FitForAge. She has been working part time in the study the past two years and launched it together with Mats Hallgren in April 2019. Josefine is responsible for the recruitment, inclusion and assessments of participants. Mats Hallgren (PhD) is an assistant professor at the Department for Global Public Health at Karolinska Institutet. He leads research focusing on links between physical activity/inactivity and mental health. Current projects include exercise as treatment for alcohol use disorder (‘FitForChange’), and yoga-based exercise to promote healthy ageing and wellbeing (‘FitForAge’). Mats also works with Swedish register data exploring relationships of physical activity, sedentary behaviour and mental health. Completed projects include exercise for depression (‘Regassa’) and first episode psychosis (‘FitForLife’). Committed to translating research into clinical and public health practice.
